Common questions

SMAS Worksafe FAQs

What is SMAS Worksafe?

SMAS Worksafe is a health and safety pre-qualification scheme and a member of SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement). Many main contractors ask subcontractors to hold SMAS or another SSIP member scheme before they can start on site.

What's the difference between SMAS SSIP, Plus and Pro?

SMAS SSIP covers the core health and safety assessment. Plus and Pro add wider checks and features. Which one you need depends on what your clients ask for — we'll confirm that with you before you apply.

Is SMAS the same as CHAS?

They're different schemes, but both are SSIP members and assess your health and safety arrangements to a similar core standard. Some clients specify one; others accept any SSIP member scheme. We can help you decide which is worth your money.

Do you guarantee I'll pass SMAS?

yes, we've never had one not pass!
