The Scaffolding Association
The Scaffolding Association Audited Membership is the highest level of membership the Association offers, and the one scaffolding contractors should aim for.
Unlike Assessed membership, which relies on a general SSIP certificate, Audited membership involves a two-stage independent audit by a UKAS-accredited certification body. It starts with a desktop review of your policies, procedures, training records and incident reporting, followed by an on-site check that those arrangements are actually being followed.
You're assessed against a scaffolding-specific procurement standard that was built around PAS 91, the prequalification standard used by public-sector clients and main contractors. That means your business is judged on how well it plans and manages scaffolding work, not just on general health and safety paperwork.
For clients, Audited membership is clear, independent proof of competence. Local authorities, house builders and major contractors increasingly look for it when building tender lists, so it can open the door to larger and public-sector contracts.
AccredSafe can take you through the whole process, from preparing the scaffold-specific documents to getting you ready for both stages of the audit.
